3 Tips to treat yourself like your best friend.

It’s easy to forget to treat ourselves with the same care and compassion we show our closest friends. What does it mean to Really love yourself. How do you make self-love part of your every day journey?

Imagine if you heard your friend speaking negatively about themselves. You would never stand for it! So why do it to yourself? Practice self-talk that’s positive and uplifting. If you find yourself slipping into negative thoughts, stop, take a deep breath, and reframe them. The best way to truly love yourself is to treat yourself just like you would your best friend. We never criticize them or point out their flaws. We are there for them to feel empowered and are there biggest cheerleaders.

It’s funny how we treat ourselves so harshly, almost like we are our own worst enemies. We nitpick every mistake we make, overanalyze our every flaw, and let our insecurities define us. If we treated ourselves more like we do our best friends, then maybe we would see ourselves as we our true selves.

Forgive Yourself

It’s time to let go of all the past mistakes that you have been holding onto. Forgive yourself for everything that you regret, everything that you wish you could have done differently. It’s time to move forward and live your life with love, kindness, and compassion towards yourself. Acknowledge that you are only human, and you will make mistakes. Nobody is perfect, and it’s impossible to be perfect all the time. Embrace your imperfections, they are what make you unique, and they are what make you who you are.

Think of forgiveness as a gift to yourself, not as something that you do for others. When you forgive yourself, you open up space in your heart for love, joy, and positivity. You become more resilient, and you gain more strength to face the challenges that come your way. Your best friend screws up and apologizes and you’re ready to give them another chance. Show the same love to yourself.

Listen to and tend to your own Needs

When your best friend is going through something you remind them to rest and make sure they are taking care of themselves. You are always there to offer advice as needed. Listen to your body and mind when they are telling you to take care of yourself. Too often we push ourselves over the edge, trying to get everything crossed off our list. But sometimes you need to slow down, for both your mental and physical health. Taking care of yourself ia great way to show self-love just as you do your loved ones.

Treat Yourself

Some of the kindest things our best friends do for us are unexpected surprises like: bringing you flowers; inviting you out for drink. Show yourself that same love with the occasional treat. Sometimes you just need a latte or a massage to make a rough day a little better. Your best friend is your best friend for a reason. They wouldn’t stick around if they didn’t love everything about you, and you wouldn’t hang out with them if you didn’t love them just the same. If you learn to show yourself the same care and kindness you show your best friend, then you can truly learn how to love yourself.
