Some sessions stay with you long after the camera is packed away. This was one of them.
If something stands between you and your success, move it. Never be denied.
Life has a way of circling back when you least expect it. As a photographer, I’m lucky enough to witness chapters beginning all the time, but every so often, a story unfolds that feels deeply personal. One that carries memory, love, and time all in the same breath.
This maternity session brought me back to my teenage years. My best friend then was Adah. She was radiant, full of life, and fiercely devoted to her two children. In 2001, Adah passed away, leaving behind a loss that never truly disappears. Even now, her presence still feels close. Some people leave fingerprints on your life that time can’t erase.
Over the years, I stayed in touch with her younger sister, Andria. When she reached out and thought of me for this session, it felt meaningful in a way that’s hard to put into words. And then I realized who I’d be photographing.
Adah’s son, Andrew.
The first time I photographed Andrew, he was eight years old. Just a little boy with a gentle smile. Now here he was, twenty-five years old, standing beside his partner Miranda, preparing to become a father. Watching that transformation unfold felt surreal and grounding all at once. Time moved, life happened, and here we were.
Photographing Andrew and Miranda during their maternity session in Long Beach didn’t feel like work. It felt like being invited into a sacred moment. A moment where love, memory, and future all quietly coexisted. As I captured their connection and anticipation, I felt the weight of legacy and the beauty of love continuing forward.
This wasn’t just a maternity session. It was about family threads weaving themselves into new beginnings. About love expanding. About honoring the past while celebrating what’s coming next.
I couldn’t help but think of Adah. I know she would be so proud. So full. Watching her son step into fatherhood, creating a life filled with intention and love.
Andrew and Miranda, thank you for trusting me with something so deeply personal. It was an honor to document this chapter for you. Here’s to new beginnings, quiet strength, and a lifetime of moments worth holding onto.

In a professional context it often happens that private or corporate clients corder a publication to be made and presented with the actual content still not being ready. Think of a news blog that’s filled with content hourly on the day of going live. However, reviewers tend to be distracted by comprehensible content, say, a random text copied from a newspaper or the internet. There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn’t anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text.
